Spring Has Sprung

Today's the day the little sprouts made the move to their interim home. Many of the plugs had roots on the outside, a sure sign it was time for the peat pots. We use loose seed starting soil in the peat pots to avoid crowding or drowning the tap root. The girls will be ensconced in the peat pots until they have several sets of leaves. Once they are of the right size, they will make one final move to their forever home.
We had one failure. The Atomic Bomb seed sprouted just fine, and had a healthy tap root, but something happened and the root began to rot from the bottom up. Possibly too much water for that seed plug. So the empty peat pot is waiting for the replacement seed to sprout. And, just our luck, that was the last of the Atomic Bomb seeds, so the replacement is a Solstice Venus.
